Caleb and Kelly Williams of Buford's Peak Performance Weightlifting became the first husband and wife duo to win national titles on the same day at the recent USA Weightlifting National Championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Kelly won the 48-kilogram weight class with lifts of 75 kilograms in the snatch competition and 88 kilograms in clean and jerk. Her total of 163 kilograms was a personal best and qualified her for a spot on Team USA at the World Championships later this year at Disneyland Paris.
Caleb, in the 69-kilogram class, had a new personal record total of 283 kilograms -- 123 in snatch and 160 in clean and jerk.
