BUFORD -- Police say a Duluth man used Craigslist to lure and rob a woman at knife-point who assumed she was buying an iPad.

The alleged robbery happened Tuesday at Century Park Apartments on Preston Parkway in Buford. There, the victim told police she had agreed to purchase an iPad she found on craigslist.com, a popular classified ad site.

The woman initially agreed to meet the seller at a Target shopping center, but he changed the meeting point to the apartment complex at the last minute, police said.

At the apartment complex, the seller approached the woman with a small box she assumed was the iPad. Instead, he produced a large butcher knife, demanded her money and bolted on foot, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said.

The victim provided detectives with information regarding the suspect's other ad listings, which police traced to Duluth resident Raemonte Gentale Harris, 24. He was arrested Thursday.

Harris, charged with armed robbery, remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

In light of the incident, Gwinnett police urged an abundance of caution when arranging business transactions or making purchases online.

"Be aware of the possibility of fraud. Make an effort to verify the validity of other parties," Ritter advised. "When meeting in person, insist on meeting in a safe place."

Police are asking anyone with information regarding similar incidents with Harris to call the Gwinnett County Police Department at 770-513-5300.
