Red Cross calling for blood donations

LAWRENCEVILLE — Blood donations have dropped drastically this summer, officials said, and the Red Cross needs support “more than ever.”

According to the Red Cross, blood donations were at the lowest level seen in the May and June timeframe in more than 12 years, while demand for blood products remained steady.

Blood can be donated most days at the Duluth Blood Donation Center at 3090 Premiere Parkway. For hours, call 770-476-3650.

A number of blood drives will also be held in the Gwinnett area in coming days. Call 800-RED-CROSS for appointments or more information.
