Gwinnett Daily Post
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Well, at least Bobby Cox isn't waisting his Gwinnett Braves jersey.
The former and long-time Atlanta Braves manager, clad in his own No. 6 G-Braves jersey, threw out the first pitch on the Gwinnett Braves opening day game to big fanfare. He spent much of the pregame signing autographs and received a standing ovation as he trotted out toward the mound.
And it wasn't even Bobby Cox Night.
That night is Monday as the Gwinnett Braves take on the Louisville Bats in the first game of a four game series. The official night honoring the former skipper is the final stop on Cox's tour of the Brave minor league affiliates and unlike his first visit, the Gwinnett organization plans many more Cox-centered activities. Once again, Cox will throw out the first pitch.
The team is taking questions on its Facebook page and a select few will be posed to Cox during an in-game interview. There will also be a "Thank You, Bobby" sign for fans to sign and it will be presented to Cox at during the game. The first 3,000 fans get a Bobby Cox figurine and three fans have an opportunity to meet Cox at the game.
The game begins at 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 5 p.m.
