LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett County firefighters responded to the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church to find a small kitchen fire already extinguished, officials said.
Rutledge said a cleaning crew discovered the fire at the church at 800 Lawrenceville Highway. By the time emergency personnel arrived, the fire had already been extinguished by a water line that "apparently busted due to the initial heat and flames," Rutledge said.
The fire appears accidental and may have originated in the area of the dishwasher, officials said.
The blaze was contained to the kitchen and caused moderate damage due to smoke and heat.
