LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Norcross man and his stepson were indicted this week on charges stemming from celebratory New Year's Eve gunfire that struck and killed a neighbor.
Ervin Taylor Sr., 62, and Jesse Deane Foster, 20, were arrested on Jan. 3 and charged with involuntary manslaughter, after police say shots they fired into the air as 2010 turned into 2011 struck and killed 34-year-old Sergio Martinez.
Martinez was found dead in the kitchen of his home at 975 Worchester Place in Norcross. According to jail records, Taylor resides at 976 Worchester Place.
Forensic investigation determined the trajectory of the single bullet that killed Martinez, police said at the time, ultimately leading homicide detectives to Taylor and Foster.
The stepfather and stepson each posted $55,200 bond almost three weeks after being incarcerated, jail records show. Both were indicted Wednesday in Gwinnett County Superior Court on involuntary manslaughter charges.
