Leary donates ‘Rescue Me’ 9/11 props
WASHINGTON — Denis Leary donated props, costumes and other objects from his TV series ‘‘Rescue Me’’ to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History on Thursday because of the show’s connection to New York City firefighters after Sept. 11. Leary’s firefighter costume, helmet and tools are the first items included in the museum’s entertainment collection relating to 9/11 as the 10th anniversary approaches. The FX firehouse drama is about firefighters dealing with the grief of losing friends and relatives at ground zero. The show would have been impossible without help from New York firefighters to help the cast create fire scenes, learn their humor and see their work, Leary said. Beyonce’s dad denies theft NEW YORK — Mathew Knowles insists he still has an amicable relationship with his daughter Beyonce — even though she dumped him as her manager two months ago — but is alleging that people close to her have tried to destroy his reputation with allegations that he stole from her. Knowles filed papers in a Texas court this week alleging that members of Beyonce’s camp, which he says includes her label, Columbia Records, Live Nation and her superstar husband Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, have made ‘‘negative comments about me.’’ ‘‘We absolutely have not taken any money from Beyonce,’’ he said. Baldwin claims abuse in filing for divorce LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. — Actor Daniel Baldwin has filed for divorce and been granted a restraining order against his wife, claiming she punched him, threatened him with a knife in front of the couple’s children and made threats of violence and death ‘‘too numerous to list.’’ Baldwin, 50, said police told him to take his children out of the couple’s house on Sunday, where he said the children witnessed his wife punching him in the face. Joanne Baldwin, 41, was arrested Wednesday night for violating her parole on a drunken driving conviction.More like this story
