DULUTH -- The Back to School Back Pack program will host "Christmas in July & Silent Auction" from 6 to 10 p.m. on Monday at the Arena Tavern at 2000 Satellite Blvd. N.W. in Duluth
This event will raise money to give school-ready backpacks to needy children in Gwinnett.
The Back to School Back Pack program is a nonprofit public charity created in 2007 by Steve K. Kendricks, Executive General Manager at Infiniti of Gwinnett.
With the help of his employees, the program supplies backpacks filled with basic school supplies to homeless children from preschoolers to preteens. The backpacks are donated to organizations like the Gwinnett Children Shelter, DFCS and the Salvation Army.
"These children do not get the same benefits that everyone else does," Kendricks said. "I wanted them to feel that there is someone that cares about them and give them a foundation they can build on through these backpacks."
Proceeds from food and beverages sold at Arena Tavern will go toward the backpack program.
The event will conclude the mobile silent auction, which began on July 5. Attendees will get the chance to see some of auctioned items.
