AUBURN -- Police arrested three Gwinnett teens on felony gang charges after they allegedly accosted a man in Auburn.
The incident happened about 4 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on Lily Stem Drive, near Interstate 85. The beating left the victim with a broken jaw, according to arrest warrants.
Police allege three suspects -- Anton Swanigan and Elhadji Thiaw, both 19-year-old Buford residents, and Jalen Tullis, 18, of Lawrenceville -- are associated with the Gangster Disciples street gang. Their relationship to the victim, if any, was unclear Thursday.
All three suspects face battery and participation in gang activity charges. They remain at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
Warrants indicate a fourth suspect was involved but was not arrested with the others Thursday.
Thiaw faces an additional charge of theft by taking for allegedly stealing the victim's cell phone after the scuffle.
Gangster Disciples is a widespread street gang with roots in 1960s Chicago, according to ChicagoGangs.org and other online resources.
A state law adopted several years ago makes gang activity a felony in Georgia if it's done in furtherance of any other crime -- in this case battery.
