LAWRENCEVILLE -- The owners of a hot air balloon reported stolen in Lawrenceville said Wednesday that the aircraft was found in Winder.
The $70,000 balloon, thousands more dollars in accessories and a trailer were stolen sometime between 6 p.m. Monday and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, from its storage area on the 1600 block of Collins Hill Road.
Owners Rick and Debi Ferrall pleaded with the alleged thieves to leave the balloon somewhere such as a parking lot so the couple could find it. The custom-designed balloon could not be replicated, Rick Ferrall said.
On Wednesday, Gwinnett County police found the balloon on Stanley Road in Winder, roughly 18 miles east of Lawrenceville.
The Associated Press contributed to the story.
