NORCROSS -- When it comes to making fried green tomatoes, mac 'n' cheese and other traditional Southern favorites, Billie Van Dyke, owner of the Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, has recipes that have gained national fame.
Van Dyke will be at the Norcross Welcome Center from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday signing copies of her famous cookbook, "The Bible of Southern Cooking." She'll also be answering culinary questions and sharing samples of her desserts.
The Norcross Welcome Center hosts many special events, including multi-genre art exhibits and local and global-topic history displays, and serves as a resource for "everything Norcross."
"Art comes in many different forms, and there is no doubt that Billie is a master in the art of cooking," said Welcome Center Coordinator Cate Kitchen, who invited Van Dyke to the center after dining at the Blue Willow Inn. "And she creates the kind of food that has satisfied Southern souls for generations, so I figured that tied in with the history part of the center."
The Norcross Welcome Center, located at 189 Lawrenceville St., is regularly open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. For more information, call 678-421-2049 or email ckitchen@norcrossga.net.
