LAWRENCEVILLE -- The whereabouts of a hot air balloon are up in the air after the owner of the aviation vehicle reported it stolen Tuesday.
Gwinnett County police received a call that a trailer containing the balloon and its component parts was stolen between 6 p.m. Monday and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to an incident report.
The trailer was parked in the driveway of property on the 1600 block of Collins Hill Road in Lawrenceville, which is near the intersection with Pamela Kay Drive. The owner of the trailer told police the trailer hitch was secured with a lock and that no one had permission to take the trailer, the incident report states.
The 6-by-12-foot enclosed trailer had a decal on the side reading "Stairway to Heaven Hot Air Balloon Team," the report states.
The owners of the trailer live about a mile away from where the trailer was stored, according to the report.
