STONE MOUNTAIN -- Authorities are still interviewing witnesses following the Sunday death of a Milton woman who fell five stories from a hotel at Stone Mountain Park.
Chuck Kelley, the park's police chief, said 33-year-old Elizabeth Ludwig was attending a wedding at the Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort.
Her fiance called 911 early Sunday morning saying she'd fallen from the balcony, Kelley said.
According to Kelley, officers found her on the ground below the balcony. She was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, where she died.
Kelley said he visited the scene of the incident on Sunday and checked the railing where the woman fell.
"The railing was sturdy," he said. "It was stout, so it wasn't from anything faulty."
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting in investigating the incident, Kelley said.
"That's all we know right now," Kelley said. "They're still interviewing witnesses. The medical examiner has to do his work, so it will probably be the end of the week before we have all the facts."
