SUWANEE — The Suwanee Police Department was recently awarded a $10,000 grant, which it will use toward improving technology in the department.
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety gave the small agency incentive grant to Suwanee for “participating in and reporting on a variety of GOHS traffic safety enforcement programs throughout the year,” city officials said.
Those programs include “Click It or Ticket” and Georgia HEAT.
The department has used the grant to equip its motorcycle enforcement unit with a video camera, as well as a tablet computer and electronic printer in order to produce electronic tickets.
“All of this equipment will make our motorcycle traffic enforcement unit more effective,” Suwanee police Capt. Cass Mooney said. “We appreciate the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for providing assistance to our agency.”
