Peachtree Christian Hospice recently celebrated its ninth annual Benefit, Gala and Awards Dinner — a fundraising event that honors “extraordinary individuals” in the community.

Held at the Atlanta Athletic Club, the gathering allowed organizers to pay tribute to the nonprofit organization’s supporters.

“We are deeply grateful to the devoted supporters and ambassadors for Hospice whose contributions in the past 10 years have made a profound difference in the lives of over 6,000 terminally ill patients,” Co-Chair Martha Todd said.

At each year’s gala, organizers present awards to those who have gone above and beyond in their work with the community.

The Scott Hudgens Good and Faithful Servant Award, named in memory of the former Gwinnett developer and philanthropist, was presented this year to Jim Ellis.

“This distinguished tribute is to an amazing man who has given time and time again to make an incredible difference in the Atlanta, Marietta and Duluth communities,” Co-Chair Bill Todd said.

A second award was presented to the Rev. Linda D. Scott for service to the work of Peachtree Christian Hospice.

Scott received the Chairman’s Legacy Award.

“It was a tremendous honor for me to receive this special award from Bill and Martha Todd ... I was thoroughly surprised,” Scott said. “It was one of the highlights of my 11-year career at Peachtree Christian Hospice.”

Peachtree Christian Hospice is a nonprofit organization that emerged from the Outreach Ministry of Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta.

Located on 8.7 acres in Duluth, the organization’s 16-bed facility is operated by United Hospice, a Georgia-based company providing care since 1993.
