Gwinnett doctor honored by Atlanta Magazine

A local Georgia Cancer Specialists physician has been named to Atlanta Magazine’s July issue of Top Doctors.

Dr. Stephen M. Szabo, who is board certified in oncology, hematology and internal medicine, has a Georgia Cancer Specialists practice located in both Lawrenceville and Johns Creek.

He is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. He has special interests in cancer genetics, breast malignancies, GI malignancies and blood disorders.

“The Atlanta Magazine Top Doctor list is among the most highly regarded listings in our region, and I’m honored to be selected,” Szabo said in a release.

Atlanta Magazine’s list of Top Doctors is compiled by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., an established health care research company based in New York. Its Physician-led team of researchers selects Top Doctors through a rigorous screening process that includes evaluation of education and professional experience. Top Doctors were nominated by both a nationwide survey administered by Castle Connolly and by licensed physicians in DeKalb, Fulton, Cobb, Clayton and Gwinnett counties who submitted online votes for exceptional colleagues they would send their own families to, according to a release.

Szabo earned his medical degree from Cornell University, completed his residency at the University of Michigan and completed a fellowship at Emory University before opening his two Georgia Cancer Specialists practices.

Georgia Cancer Specialists is a leader in advanced cancer treatment and research that offers community-based medical oncology and hematology services to more than 200,000 patients each year.
