DACULA -- Skeletal remains found alongside a winding Dacula road a week ago were those of a white female, Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office authorities said Friday.
A neighbor came across the remains while chasing his dog through an overgrown lot that abuts Harbins Road, south of Ga. Highway 316. Chief Forensic Examiner Ted Bailey said officials haven't been able to determine who the female was.
"We're still in the process of establishing positive identification," Bailey told the Daily Post on Friday.
Police said the bones appeared to have been in the lot for well over a year.
A neighbor told the Daily Post the bones lay about 100 feet from the road and bore no clothing.
