LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Gwinnett Braves’ six-game winning streak came to an end with a 4-2 road loss to the Louisville Bats on Friday night.
The G-Braves (44-37) remain in a first-place tie with the Durham Bulls (44-37) in the International League South. Louisville’s Yonder Alonso hit a triple off the right-field wall against G-Braves’ starter Mike Minor. The blast scored Dave Sappelt from first and broke a 1-1 tie. The Bats held that lead for the duration as Gwinnett could only muster four hits. Brandon Hicks went 1-for-4 with a solo homer, his 11th. Chris Carter, Mauro Gomez and Minor collected the other hits. Minor (3-3) worked six innings and got the loss. He also gave up two homers. Gwinnett and Durham begin a four-game, home-and-home series tonight with the first of two games in Durham, N.C. LHP Yohan Flande (3-4, 4.23) will start for Gwinnett. RHP Alex Cobb (5-0, 1.35) takes the mound for the Bulls.More like this story
