Eagles’ Miles commits to TCC softball

Collins Hill senior Aerika Miles has made a commitment to the Tallahassee Community College fastpitch softball program. She is the daughter of Angie and Erik Miles.

Miles helped the Eagles to their second straight Class AAAAA state championship last season. She was named first-team all-state, all-county and all-region, earning a spot in the Georgia Dugout Club All-State Game.

Parkview’s Massey named to Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame

Longtime Parkview teacher and coach Roy “Chief” Massey was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame last weekend.

Massey has been a longtime coach with the Panthers’ baseball and football programs since joining the school as an industrial arts teacher in 1978. He remained as a teacher there until his 1994 retirement.

He also coached previously in Georgia at Towers and Dunwoody.

Mountain View to host baseball tournament

Mountain View will host a Feb. 18-20 youth baseball tournament, as well as a Feb. 19 craft show, at the high school.

Fallen Heroes of Georgia races March 19

Fallen Heroes of Georgia will host 10K, 5K and 1K races March 19 beginning at 8 a.m. at Lake Lanier Islands. The event benefits charities created in memory of Georgia’s fallen soldiers.

Hawks sign Wilkins for year

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks have signed swingman Damien Wilkins for the rest of the season.

Wilkins is a seven-year veteran who originally signed with the team Dec. 3. He was waived Jan. 5 before signing 10-day contracts on Jan. 8 and Jan. 18.
