DULUTH — Reader’s Digest readers like to brag about their hometowns, and Duluth is one of the favorites, magazine “ambassadors” said Friday, during its ninth stop on a tour of 100 “Best in America” cities.
“We get to hear the voice of the people. That’s incredibly special,” Jay Ramos said of the RV tour. “The biggest voices are ... all from people in tight-knit communities.” Mayor Nancy Harris received a $1,000 check for the city’s participation in the “We Hear You America” tour. Ramos said the city has the opportunity to win more money, if residents continue to vote at rd.com. Harris said she believes the city’s history and customs have helped keep residents happy. “We’re able to keep our small town feel, yet change with everything,” she said. After Friday’s short ceremony, model Niki Taylor, who is hosting the tour, signed autographs and spoke to city employees and residents.More like this story
