LAWRENCEVILLE — Central Gwinnett handed South Gwinnett its first Region 8-AAAAA loss Friday night with a 49-42 upset of the No. 3 state-ranked Comets.
The Black Knights (10-8, 7-4) were led by 12 points from Jerry Coleman, while Brian Egejuru added 11 points.
South (15-4, 9-1) was led by a game-high 19 points from Ashanti Downey-Day.
Archer 81, Brookwood 74
SNELLVILLE — Archer received 25 points from Bryan Hamlet on Friday as the Tigers upset Brookwood 81-74 in Region 8-AAAAA action.
Randall Smith added 11 points for Archer as the Tigers improved to 9-12 overall and 2-10 in the region. The Broncos fell to 6-13 overall and 6-5 in region play.
Berkmar 81, Parkview 74 OT
LILBURN — Berkmar needed overtime Friday night to come away with its 81-74 Region 8-AAAAA win over Parkview.
Yonel Brown had a huge night scoring for the Patriots (14-6, 8-4) with 34 points. Brandon Thompson also turned in a solid game with 18 points, while Tim Rowe chipped in with nine points.
The Panthers fell to 10-10 overall and 5-7 in the region.
Shiloh 69, Grayson 60
SNELLVILLE — Shiloh had three players score in double figures, led by 17 each from Jordan Gaither and A.D. Rogers, as the Generals held off Grayson 69-60 in Region 8-AAAAA.
Stedmon Lemon helped Shiloh (10-8, 6-5) with 13 points. The Rams fell to 5-16 overall and 2-10 in the region.
Peachtree Ridge 60, Meadowcreek 54
SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge moved into a tie for first place in Region 7-AAAAA with its 60-54 win over Meadowcreek on Friday night.
Richie Everett led the Lions (15-4, 7-2) with 16 points. Cory Heyward added 11 points, while Daryan Griffin had 10 points.
The Mustangs (7-11, 5-4) were paced by a game-best 19 points from Tevin Glass.
Norcross 77, Mountain View 53
LAWRENCEVILLE — Norcross improved to 10-9 overall and 5-3 in Region 7-AAAAA with a 77-53 win over Mountain View on Friday.
The Blue Devils had two players top the 20-point mark with Chris Bolden’s 22 and Josiah Moore’s 20.
The Bears (3-14, 0-7) were led by 17 points from Drew Bollier and 10 points from Brandon Lamb.
GAC 76, Avondale 43
AVONDALE ESTATES — Malcolm Brogdon led all players with 24 points Friday night as Greater Atlanta Christian cruised to a 76-43 win over Avondale in Region 6-AA.
A.J. Davis and Cole Hobbs each had 14 points for the fourth-ranked Spartans (15-5, 8-0), while Collin Swinton added nine points.
Buford 58, Clarkston 45
CLARKSTON — T.J. Shipes scored 16 points Friday night to lead No. 9 Buford to a 58-45 win over Clarkston in a Region 6-AA, Division A game.
Alex Flagler added 11 points as the Wolves improved to 13-5 overall and 4-1 in the subregion.
Commerce 65, Hebron 53
DACULA — Commerce defeated Hebron 65-53 Friday night in a Region 8-A game.
Leaders for the Lions (4-16, 3-7) were Jack Griffin with 14 points and Griffin Gambill with 12 points.
North 53, Collins Hill 34
SUWANEE — Lexie Brown scored a game-high 27 points as the Bulldogs (14-5, 9-0) retained sole possession of first place in Region 7-AAAAA with a big win over Collins Hill on Friday at home.
O’dez Oraedu scored eight points to pace the visiting Eagles (12-8, 4-5).
South 50, Central 45
LAWRENCEVILLE — South Gwinnett overcame a 14-point deficit at the end of the third quarter to post the eighth win in its last nine games with a 50-45 defeat of Central Gwinnett in Region 8-AAAAA.
Leading scorer for the Comets (11-8, 8-2) was Kiara Baker with 16 points, while Colette Onenda and Yvonna Dunkley each scored 10. Alysia Johnson led the team in rebounds with 15.
Central’s leading scorers were Taja Latimore with 12 points and Jackie Finnegan with 11. Central (7-11, 5-6) led 40-26 after three quarters before South outscored the Black Knights 24-5 in the fourth.
Brookwood 61, Archer 32
SNELLVILLE — Brookwood’s Autumn Adams scored 14 points and Jazmine Jackson added 13 more as the second-ranked Broncos topped Archer 61-32 on Friday in Region 8-AAAAA.
Rebecca Walker added 10 points as Brookwood stayed undefeated at 19-0 overall and 11-0 in the region. The Tigers fell to 7-14 overall and 3-9 in region play.
Parkview 47, Berkmar 24
LILBURN — Parkview turned in a strong defensive effort on Friday as the Panthers downed Berkmar 47-24 in Region 8-AAAAA.
Leading Parkview (15-4, 10-2) in scoring was Katie Carroll with 18 points, while Erika Joseph chipped in with 11. The Patriots (13-8, 7-5) were led by 10 points from Teanna Robinson.
Shiloh 57, Grayson 56
SNELLVILLE — Three Shiloh players logged double-doubles Friday night as the Generals nipped Grayson 57-56 for a Region 8-AAAAA win.
Leaders for Shiloh (2-15, 2-9) were Kimberleigh Rivers with 10 points and 10 assists, Zakyra Colvin with 13 rebounds and 10 points and Kaylen Ward with 16 points and 10 boards. Holland Glenn also helped in the win with 15 points.
Anna LaCavera of Grayson (3-17, 2-10) hit eight 3-pointers and led all scorers with 26 points.
Norcross 75, Mountain View 14
LAWRENCEVILLE — No. 3 Norcross cruised to a 75-14 win over Mountain View on Friday in Region 7-AAAAA action.
Diamond Deshields led the Blue Devils (16-2, 6-1) with 21 points, six steals and four assists. Tori Carter added 13 points, four steals and four assists, while Dearica Hamby chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Peachtree Ridge 69, Meadowcreek 54
SUWANEE — Melissa Turvy of Peachtree Ridge put in 27 points Friday night to help give the Lions a 69-54 win over Region 7-AAAAA foe Meadowcreek (5-12, 1-8).
Peachtree Ridge (8-10, 2-6) trailed by four points at the half before taking the lead with an offensive surge in the third.
Lorie Cruse helped in the comeback with 13 points, while Taylor Auzenne added 11 points. Jazmyn Johnson led the Lions in rebounds with seven.
Buford 53, Clarkston 23
CLARKSTON — Andraya Carter of Buford led all players with 19 points on Friday as the second-ranked Wolves defeated Clarkston 53-23 in Region 6-AA.
Buford (16-1, 11-0) also received 11 points from Mackenzie Darrah.
GAC 85, Avondale 3
AVONDALE ESTATES — Kristina Nelson scored 18 points Friday night as No. 9 Greater Atlanta Christian dominated Avondale 85-3 in Region 6-AA.
CiCi Buford finished with 13 points for GAC (14-6, 10-1), with Shannon Cranshaw adding 12 points.
Hebron 54, Commerce 41
DACULA — Hebron’s Jalisa Tucker logged 28 points Friday night as the Lions upended Commerce 54-41 in a Region 8-A game.
Lacy Stephens chipped in with seven points as Hebron improved to 9-10 overall and 6-3 in the region.
