BUFORD — The man killed following a flash fire at a Buford business last week has been identified as Eric Kristensen, 67.
Kristensen and his stepson were injured near Buford’s Flintstone Paver Installations, a company they both worked for and owned on Buford Dam Road. Ted Bailey, Gwinnett Medical Examiner’s Office chief forensic investigator, said an autopsy was not performed. “We’ll determine the cause of death after reviewing some records, which may be several weeks,” Bailey said Monday. A memorial service for Kristensen, of Suwanee, was held Sunday in Buford. A native of Denmark, he’d lived in metro Atlanta for 17 years. He leaves a wife, Brigitte, according to his obituary. Officials said Kristensen died at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta from severe burns. His stepson’s injuries were not severe, officials said. The incident happened about 10 a.m. Thursday at the business, which specializes in installing driveways, pool decks and patios. Investigators believe Kristensen was working outside on a vehicle and may have had a gas can nearby when the flash fire happened. An investigation continues.More like this story
