LILBURN — A man working in his garage heard a fire start in his home, helping firefighters to get to the blaze quickly.
After hearing a loud popping sound from the attic above the garage, where the man was working on his truck, the man moved his truck away from the flames and called the fire department just after noon Monday, officials said. Crews found heavy fire from the attached garage of the two-story wood frame house at the 3300 block of Alcazar Drive in Lilburn, but a quick attack with hoselines caused the firefighters to keep the fire from spreading to the main-living space. “The quick and aggressive actions of the firefighters kept the fire damage contained to the garage and attic above the garage,” a press release said, adding that the contents of the garage sustained heavy damage, while the main-living space only had minor smoke and water damage. The Red Cross is assisting the three adults and three children displaced by the blaze.More like this story
