GWINNETT GAB: Norcross hosts Filmmaker's Showcase

Norcross hosts Filmmaker’s Showcase

NORCROSS — The Norcross Arts Alliance is hosting a Filmmaker’s Showcase from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday to feature work produced by local film producers.

Participants include Norcross residents Suzan Satterfield and Allen Facemire, who own SaltRun Productions and produce some TV series that run on HGTV and the DIY Network. Emmy-award winning David Duke of Livingstories.tv and producers John Duke, Kris Valeriano and Daniel Flaherty will also be presenting.

Each of the filmmakers will answer questions about their work and engage in audience discussion about the topics.

The showcase will take place at the Norcross Cultural Arts & Community Center at 10 College St. N.W. in downtown Norcross. Admission to the event is free.

Suitcase drive for foster children rescheduled

LAWRENCEVILLE — The recent icy winter weather forced the postponement of the ninth annual Totes 2 Tots suitcase drive for foster children.

The event has been rescheduled for Friday. The hours remain the same — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — and all 22 offices in Georgia originally slated to participate will still be involved.

Donations of new or gently used backpacks and kid-sized suitcases can be made at the Georgia Cancer Specialists offices at 1800 Tree Lane, Suite 180, in Snellville; 698 Duluth Highway, Suite 201, in Lawrenceville; or 6335 Hospital Parkway in Johns Creek.

Orchestra presents memorial concert

DULUTH — The Duluth High School Chamber Orchestra will present a memorial concert in remembrance of former orchestra member violist Adam Frandsen, who died recently.

The concert will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 5575 Peachtree Parkway, Norcross.

Donations for a scholarship fund will be accepted in Frandsen’s name. The scholarships will play for private lessons or music camps for exceptional students.

Checks can be made payable to the Duluth String Orchestra Alliance, P.O. Box 2067, Duluth, GA 30096. Donations can also be made online at www.duluthorchestra.org.
