SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Defending Class AA state boys champion Greater Atlanta Christian (10-4) defeated local Springfield entrant Parkview 68-57 on Saturday to salvage seventh place in the Bass Pro Ships Tournament of Champions at Missouri State University.
The Spartans dropped their first two games in the 27th annual tournament, losing to Douglas of Oklahoma City 60-48 on Thursday and to LaVerne Christian of California 74-61 on Friday in the eight-team event.
Peachtree Ridge 71, Duluth 46
DULUTH — Peachtree Ridge beat Duluth 71-46 on Saturday.
Corey Heyward led the Lions with 16 points and Richie Everette helped with 13 points and Shaq Morris added 11 points for Peachtree Ridge. Avonte’ Hall scored 13 points and Michael Randle contributed 12 for Duluth.
Providence 74 Athens Christian 66
LILBURN — Providence junior Kareem Adekunle scored 22 points to lead the Stars to a 74-66 win over Athens Christian on Saturday.
Peter Hage added 12 points and Charlie Scott contributed 10 for Providence (13-2).
Hebron 59, Tallulah Falls 32
DACULA — Hebron earned its second region win with a victory over Tallulah Falls on Saturday.
Tyler Matthews led the Lions (3-13, 2-4 Region 8-A) with 16 points. Tyler Skidgel chipped in 12 points.
GGC 83, GHS 75
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Greater Gwinnett Christian defeated the Greenville (S.C.) Home School Hurricaanes 84-75 on Saturday.
Dustin Harris led GGC with 26 points and four steals, while Rico Williams added 16 points and 20 rebounds and Mohamed Sy-Savane scored 16 points with 12 rebounds, eight assists and four steals for the Barons (19-3).
Duluth 66, Peachtree Ridge 34
DULUTH — Duluth dominated Peachree Ridge with a strong team effort in a 66-34 win.
The Wildcats’ record is now 9-7 overall and 3-2 in region 7-AAAAA.
Hebron 57, Tallulah Falls 18
DACULA — Whitney Edwards led the Lions with 12 points and four rebounds to help Hebron beat Tallulah Falls 57-18 on Saturday.
Kara Adams contributed 11 points and 15 rebounds and Lucy Stephens added 10 points and five rebounds for Hebron (7-9, 4-1).
Athens Christian 52, Providence 49
LILBURN — Providence fell to Athens Christian 52-49 on Saturday.
Jessie Sherman led the Stars (2-8) with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Stephanie Cailor added 15.
GGC 54, GHS 53
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Greater Gwinnett Christian beat Greenville (S.C.) Home School Hurricanes 54-53 in overtime on Saturday.
Diamond Smith led the Barons with 40 points, 20 rebounds and two assists and Mackenzie Gordon had 10 rebounds for GGC (6-16).
Providence finishes sixth
ATLANTA — Providence finished sixth at the Riverwood Invitational at Marist on Saturday.
Will Miller placed first in the 500 freestyle and qualified for state with a time of 5:17:12. Alex Keller finished second in the 500 freestyle. Mackenzie Tuttle came in fourth in the 100 fly and Brittany Tuttle finished sixth in the 100 freestyle for Providence.
