GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Gwinnett Gladiators battled back from a third period deficit with four unanswered goals, stunning the Greenville Road Warriors 8-6 Friday night at the BI-LO Center for their fifth win in a row.
Trailing 6-4 after two periods of play the Gladiators (19-17-5) comeback started 9:21 into the third. Pat Galivan capped a hat trick on an assist from Andy Brandt to make it 6-5. Galivan had snapped a 20-game scoreless streak earlier in the night. Tom Zanoski’s fourth goal of the season at 13:52 on the powerplay tied the game, and Gwinnett wasn’t finished. With 3:53 to go in the third Dan Kissel hammered home a rebound on a bad angle shot from John-Scott Dickson to give the Gladiators a 7-6 edge. Tim Miller tacked on an empty-netter from Mike Forney at 18:23 to cap the highest scoring game of the season for the Glads. Both teams combined for six goals in the first period. Gwinnett went 2-for-5 on the power play and held Greeville to 0-for-3.More like this story
