Gladiators' Bixby named to all-star radio team

PRINCETON, N.J. — Gwinnett Gladiators broadcaster Dustin Bixby was named to the ECHL All-Star Game radio broadcast team by the league Friday.

Bixby will be joined in the booth by Jeff Harris of the Victoria Salmon Kings and Bob Mills of the Bakersfield Condors for the Jan. 26 in Bakersfield. It will be a reunion with Mills, who was part of the Gladiators’ broadcast team last season, doing play-by-play on the road and color commentary at home.

A recipient of the ECHL’s American Conference media relations director of the year award for the 2006-07 season, Bixby has been in the broadcast booth for the Gladiators since the organization relocated to Gwinnett from Mobile, Ala., eight years ago.

“Dustin has been here since the beginning, and we really are lucky to have someone of his caliber here,” said team president Steve Chapman. “Aside from being a fantastic broadcaster, Dustin fills so many roles for the team. That’s really what makes him so valuable.”
