PREP ROUNDUP: Buford crushes No. 3 Madison Co.

BUFORD — Buford, ranked No. 2 in Class AA, handed Madison County its first loss of the year on Tuesday 53-16. Madison County came into the game ranked third in Class AAAA with an 11-0 record.

Kaela Davis scored 17 to lead Buford (8-1, 4-0), while Constance Harrison scored 12.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Brookwood 68, Shiloh 36

SNELLVILLE — Fourth-ranked Brookwood ran its unbeaten record to 13-0 on Tuesday with a 68-36 win over Shiloh in Region 8-AAAAA.

Four Broncos (6-0 in region) scored in double figures, led by 15 points from Rebecca Walker. Katie Mallow followed with 13 points, while Jazmine Jackson scored 11 and Shontice Butler finished with 10.

Central 61, Archer 55

LAWRENCEVILLE — Central Gwinnett bounced back from a nine-point deficit in the third quarter to top Archer 61-55 for the Black Knights’ first Region 8-AAAAA win.

Nia Hardy, who led Central (3-9, 1-4) with 19 points, helped in the comeback by scoring 10 in the fourth quarter. Bri Hampton added 13 points, while Caryn Ivey scored seven in the fourth period to finish with 11 points.

Archer received 16 points from Kayla Rogers ad 10 points from Alesha Mann.

Parkview 44, Dacula 34

LILBURN — Katie Carroll and Erika Joseph each scored 13 points on Tuesday in leading Parkview to a 44-34 win over Dacula in Region 8-AAAAA.

Dacula (4-10, 3-2) was led by 12 points and nine rebounds from Joni Weatherspoon.

South 68, Grayson 33

LOGANVILLE — South Gwinnett’s Colette Onenda led all players in scoring with 20 points on Tuesday as the Comets downed Grayson 68-33 in Region 8-AAAAA.

South (6-7, 3-2) also received 15 points from Kiara Baker, while Danielle Blount added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Grayson was led by 10 points from Daja Bandy.

Loganville 49, Winder-Barrow 41

LOGANVILLE — Enisha Donley scored 20 points on Tuesday in lifting Loganville to a 49-41 win over Winder-Barrow.

Chandler Nash also helped in the win by scoring 11 points as Loganville improved to 9-3.

Wesleyan 65, St. Pius X 37

NORCROSS — Top-ranked Wesleyan received 17 points from Grace Leah Baughn on Tuesday as the Wolves flew past St. Pius X 65-37.

Jordan Frazier added 13 points for the Wolves (11-2), while Kaelyn Causwell chipped in with nine points.

Holy Innocents’ 57, Providence 54

ATLANTA — Holy Innocents’ held off Providence for a 57-54 win on Tuesday night.

Leading scorers for Providence (6-7) were Stephanie Cailor with 18 points, Jessie Sherman with 14 points and Erika Gotfredson with 12 points.

Whitefield Academy 49, Hebron 38

DACULA — Hebron fell at home Tuesday night to Whitefield Academy 49-38.

Jalisa Tucker led Hebron (5-8, 2-1) in scoring with 17 points, while Lacy Stephens led the team in rebounds with six.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Brookwood 51, Shiloh 46

SNELLVILLE — Malcolm Hannah and Taylor Walker each scored 14 points Tuesday night in helping Brookwood to a 51-46 win over Shiloh in Region 8-AAAAA.

Brookwood improved to 4-10 overall and 4-2 in the region. Shiloh was led by nine points from Tyler Gordon.

Central 77, Archer 62

LAWRENCEVILLE — The Black Knights (6-6, 3-2) overcame an early 16-8 deficit and outscored the Tigers 30-19 in the second quarter to pick up the Region 8-AAAAA victory Tuesday night at home 77-62 over Archer.

Jerry Coleman scored a game-high 23 points for Central, while Slim Delbridge added 12 and Simeon Dennis chipped in 11.

Dacula 71, Parkview 57

LILBURN — Dacula’s Xavier Okoro had 24 points with eight rebounds on Tuesday in guiding the Falcons 71-57 over Parkview in Region 8-AAAAA.

Anthony Morse also had a strong game for Dacula (8-5, 4-1) with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks, while Brandon Goodson added 12 points and eight boards. Parkview was led by 18 points from Kameron Russell.

Mill Creek 88, Duluth 71

HOSCHTON — Five Mill Creek players scored in double digits Tuesday night, led by 17 points from Brandon Hayman, as the Hawks defeated Duluth 88-71 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Ron Wamer scored 15 for Mill Creek (9-4, 2-1), while Kunle Akinmola and Paul Evans each scored 12. James Holder also chipped in with 10 points.

Avonte Hall was the leading scorer for Duluth with 18 points.

North Oconee 65, Lanier 47

BUFORD — North Oconee defeated Lanier 65-47 on Tuesday night.

Buford 68, Madison Co. 40

BUFORD — Zac Lynn scored 17 points and T.J. Shipes added 12 more on Tuesday as Buford topped Madison County 68-40.

Alex Flagler and Jake Burnette each added 11 points as Buford improved to 7-4.

Providence 67, Holy Innocents’ 53

ATLANTA — Alan Skinner poured in 26 points Tuesday night to lead Providence past Holy Innocents’ 67-53.

Providence, ranked seventh in Class A, also received 16 points from Kareem Adekunle and 11 points from Nate Bucher. The win improved the Stars to 11-2.

Wesleyan 54, St. Pius 37

NORCROSS — Wesleyan, ranked No. 3 in Class A, upped its record to 10-2 on Tuesday as the Wolves beat St. Pius 54-37.

Andrew Frerking and Ty Teague each scored 16 to lead Wesleyan.
