NORCROSS — A Norcross father and his stepson are facing involuntary manslaughter charges after police say their celebratory New Year’s gunfire struck and killed a neighbor.
Sergio Martinez, 34, of 975 Worchester Place in Norcross was found dead in his kitchen in the minute after midnight brought in 2011 Saturday, an apparent gunshot wound taking his life, officials said. Late Monday, investigators determined that the bullet that killed him had come from across the street, police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said. “The forensic investigation determined the trajectory” of the bullet that killed Martinez, Smith said, leading homicide detectives to his neighbors and their handgun. Ervin Taylor, 62, and 20-year-old stepson Jesse Foster were ultimately arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter Monday. The pair was arrested without incident, Smith said.More like this story
