DULUTH — CEO Business Centers and the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce are looking for the county’s best new small business, and they’re offering a reward.

As part of their Amazing Entrepreneur competition, business plans can be submitted from Gwinnett small businesses, proving their mettle and providing evidence “of the potential to create and stabilize employment in Gwinnett County and ... show potential for growth in such areas as profits and revenue.”

The winner will get a year of free office space, a year of free membership to the Chamber and thousands more dollars of in-kind donations and software.

“Gwinnett County is founded on small business. It’s what we do best,” Board of Commissioners Vice Chair Shirley Lasseter said. “We are excited to see the business community collaborate in such an innovative way to ensure that the backbone of our community continues to flourish.”

The program — also in partnership with the University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center — is aimed at fostering new business development that will raise the per capita income and improve the quality of life in Gwinnett County, officials said.

The competition is open to all individuals who own and manage Gwinnett small businesses less than two years old and have a current business license.

Contestants must submit a copy of their business plan to the CEO Business Centers office at 6340 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth by 5 p.m. March 10. Entry is limited to the first 25 accepted contestants.

Five finalists will present their plans to a selection committee before the winner is crowned.

“As the economy begins to recover, it is important that organizations like CEO, the Chamber and small businesses around metro Atlanta work together to do their part in supporting it,” said Ruth Strickland of CEO Business Centers.

“As small businesses need opportunity, we need tenants, and this competition brings together supply and demand to create a strategic solution.”
