Vera Lucille Kerlin Doss, age 96, of Snellville, Georgia, entered into rest on February 24, 2011. Vera was born on April 16, 1914, the eldest of 5 children to Effie Olivia Hannah Kerlin and Bennie Reese Kerlin of Lawrenceville, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her loving husband John Loyd Doss. Vera & Loyd were married for 72 years when Loyd went to be with his Lord on February 14, 2007. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Wilma Doss Walker of Snellville and Glenda Doss Morris of Atlanta; sons-in-law, George Walker, Ralph Morris; four grandchildren, Todd, Stephen, Derek (Christi) Walker, and Jason (Kimberly) Morris; eight great grandchildren, sister, Boncile Duncan and a host of relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruby; and two brothers, Maurice and Claude Kerlin. Vera was employed by Rich's Department Store for over 28 years, and after retirement was a volunteer for the Snellville Lion's Club for over 30 years and served as President of the Lioness Club. She was a member of Snellville United Methodist Church, Hancock Sunday School Class, Ousley Methodist Church and Old Pioneer Sunday School Class. She received the Keenagers Volunteer of the Year Award in 1999, and was a member of the Grandmother's Club. Vera will be greatly missed by family, friends and the community she loved. The Service Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Doss will be held Sunday, February 27, 2011, at 3:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Rev. Dr. Philip DeMore officiating. Interment Gwinnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Snellville United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Hancock Sunday School Class in memory of Vera Kerlin Doss.
