PREP ROUNDUP: Herrera leads Lions to victory

SNELLVILLE — Peachtree Ridge shut out Centennial 1-0 on Thursday during the Brookwood soccer tournament.

Juan Herrera scored the lone goal with an assist by J.T. Taplin. Mitch Kupstas had seven saves as keeper for Peachtree Ridge (3-0).

BOYS SOCCER

Central 1, Meadowcreek 0

LAWRENCEVILLE — Central Gwinnett shut out Meadowcreek 1-0 on Thursday.

With six seconds left in the first half Central’s John Luke Nonayne scored a goal with an assist by Rigo Gudiel. Charlie DeLoatche had 12 saves and got the shut out in goal keep, while Samir Ramic, Sebastian Botello and Azem Cavcic had strong defensive performances for Central (2-0-1).

GIRLS SOCCER

Berkmar 9, Dutchtown 0

LILBURN — Jency Ramirez led Berkmar with four goals and Florencia Munilla scored three to help Berkmar defeat Dutchtown 9-0 on Thursday.

Sofia Ruggieri and Pilar Valdez each added a goal for Berkmar.

BASEBALL

Meadowcreek 19, Clarkston 0

NORCROSS — Carlos Ramirez threw a complete game no-hitter and had five strike outs to help Meadowcreek shut out Clarkston 19-0 on Thursday.

Offensively, Ramirez was 1-for-1 with a triple, while Juan Rubio went 1-for-1 with a double, and Reymond Ventura was 1-for-2 with a triple.

Buford 15, Archer 0

BUFORD — Sam Clay threw a one-hitter and struck out five batters in three innings to help Buford shut down Archer 15-0 in four innings on Thursday.

Taylor Harter hit a two-run home run, while Troy Hearterick was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, and Brian Clark went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Buford (3-0).

GAC 17, Tucker 1

NORCROSS — Patrick Schultz allowed two hits and struck out four batters to earn the win and help Greater Atlanta Christian beat Tucker 17-1 in three innings on Thursday.

Rafe Chapple finished 4-for-4 with a double and five RBIs, Ross Wood went 2-for-2 with three runs, John LaMay was 2-for-3 with a triple and Robby McPherson was 2-for-2 with a double for GAC (1-1).

Loganville 5, Dacula 0

LOGANVILLE — Dacula fell to Loganville 5-0 on Thursday.

Tyler Jarvis pitched four innings, gave up one earned run and struck out six batters for Dacula (0-2). Matt Pogue was 1-for-3 with a double, and Steven Williams and Michael Barnes each were 1-for-3, while Jared Martin went 1-for-1 for Dacula.

GIRLS TENNIS

Brookwood beats Grayson

SNELLVILLE — Leah Pridgon, Keelie Denson and Rebecca Norton each earned wins in singles to help Brookwood shut out Grayson 5-0 on Thursday.

Molly McClinton and Gabbie Griffith won No. 1 doubles and Emily Gray and Katie Kraft won No. 2 doubles for the Broncos (1-3, 1-0).

Buford sweeps Decatur

BUFORD — Buford swept Decatur 5-0 on Thursday.

Earning wins in singles matches were Kelley Cohron, Jancy Burge and Kathryn Bradshaw. No. 1 doubles were won by Cortland West and Michelle Hanley, while Jennifer Wiley and Mary Frances Harrison won No. 2 doubles for the Wolves (3-3).

Shiloh 3, Central 2

SNELLVILLE — Shiloh beat Central Gwinnett 3-2 on Thursday.

Shiloh singles matches were won by Selena Buckner, Danielle Ramsey and Siohanna Brown.

Mill Creek defeats GAC

HOSCHTON — Mill Creek swept Greater Atlanta Christian 5-0 on Thursday.

Kristy Yau, Michelle Yau and Madison Hahn each won their singles matches. Nela Handac and Allison Weaver won No. 1 doubles and Mallory Kolts and Cailey Stevens won No. 2 doubles for Mill Creek (5-1).

Dacula beats Archer

DACULA — Nicki Neal and Mary Moore won at singles to help Dacula beat Archer 4-1 on Thursday.

Shannon Stovensky and Elizabeth Bennett won at No. 1 doubles, while Allie Reed and Chris Carver won No. 2 doubles for Dacula.

Providence tops Holy Innocents’

LILBURN — Providence beat Holy Innocents’ 4-1 on Thursday.

Singles were won by Vani Crist, Christy North and Madison DeMoss. Emma Crist and Alex Schlesinger won No. 1 doubles for Providence.

Meadowcreek beats Berkmar

NORCROSS — Meadowcreek beat Berkmar 3-2 on Thursday.

Wins were collected by Steven Gil in No. 1 singles, Jack Pham and Tri Duong at No. 1 doubles and Quang Lu and Michael Chapman won No. 2 doubles for Meadowcreek.

Buford falls to Decatur

BUFORD — Buford lost 3-2 to Decatur on Thursday. Wins for the Wolves (5-1) were from doubles matches by Nicholas Becker and Matthew Gates, and by Ian Chambers and Bryce Benson.

Providence falls to Holy Innocents’

LILBURN — Providence was swept by Holy Innocents’ 5-0 on Thursday.

BOYS LACROSSE

Brookwood 8, Parkview 4

SNELLVILLE — James Anderson and Trevor McNaboe had two goals each Wednesday night as Brookwood defeated rival Parkview 8-4 in their first boys lacrosse meeting.

Goalie Cody Hendrix made 20 saves for the Broncos (2-0). Brookwood got goals from Drew Thompson, Mateo Valles, Tanner Forbes and Matt Skelly. Case DeStefano added an assist.

BOYS GOLF

Hebron beat Mountain View

DACULA — Hebron beat Mountain View 182-185 at Trophy Club of Apalachee on Thursday.

Low scorers were Hebron’s Phillip Cox with a 44, and Mountain View’s Matt Patridge who also shot a 44.

Lanier falls to Flowery Branch

HOSCHTON — Lanier fell to Flowery Branch 162-254 at Reunion Golf Course on Thursday.

James Pearson and Ryan Edwards each shot a 55 for Lanier.

GIRLS GOLF

Lanier scores first school win

HOSCHTON — Lanier beat Flowery Branch 74-72 at Reunion Golf Course on Thursday to collect its first victory in school history.

Low scorers were Patricia Delgado and Brittany Mosley with 36.

Hebron tops Mountain View

DACULA — Hebron’s low scorer Darby Gentry shot a 43 to help beat Mountain View 70-76 in seven holes at Trophy Club of Apalachee on Thursday.

Dacula tops Meadowcreek

DACULA — Dacula beat Meadowcreek 96-41 on Thursday.

Andrew Redhead won the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.12 seconds for Dacula.

GIRLS TRACK

Dacula beats Meadowcreek

DACULA — Dacula defeated Meadowcreek 109-37 on Thursday.

Patricia Eckpo led with 143⁄4 feet in the long jump for the Falcons.
