The 31st annual Charles Harris Run For Leukemia, in honor of the longtime local educator, Marine and University of Georgia football player, will be held this weekend. Harris died of the disease at the age of 49 and since its inception the event has raised more than $1 million for Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute.
The 10K race begins Saturday at 7:45 a.m. at Tucker High School and the one-mile race starts at the same time at Shamrock Middle School. For more information or to register, go to www.charlesharrisrun.com or www.active.com before 6 p.m. today. Walk-in registration is still accepted at Big Peach Running Company’s stores through 8 p.m. Thursday. Race-day registration is at Tucker High School. The first 1,350 runners registered receive a Brooks High-Tech shirt.More like this story
