KENNESAW — A Lawrenceville teenager was killed in an early-morning car accident in Cobb County Friday.
Lawrence Ogunnowo, 19, was the lone fatality in the single-car wreck that occurred just after 2 a.m., as a Honda Accord carrying three additional passengers left the roadway near Chastain Road in Kennesaw, officials said. According to Cobb County police, the vehicle was traveling southbound on Interstate 575, when the driver, 21-year-old Herve Hanyurwimfura of Roswell, lost control. The vehicle crossed through the “gore” at the base of the offramp for Chastain Road before traveling into a ravine and trees on the west side of the interstate. Ogunnowo — whose Facebook page lists him as a graduate of Peachtree Ridge High School and a Kennesaw State University student — was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and two other passengers were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Speed and alcohol were believed to be a factor, and charges are expected to be filed, officials said.More like this story
