BERKELEY LAKE — City leaders Thursday selected Government Enterprises to be the company to conduct a tax equity study for the city of Berkeley Lake.

The Carl Vinson Institute also presented a proposal for the project, but councilman Scott Lee felt that Government Enterprises has more practical experience with such issues. Other council members agreed, despite Councilman Frank Lombardi’s reservations with respect to the contract price.

Government Enterprises will execute the study at a cost to the city of $23,900. The Carl Vinson Institute proposed doing the study for $1100 more. Mayor Lois Salter said Thursday that homeowners want to see the study done as soon as possible.

Huntington to stay on with P & Z Commission

Dan Huntington will stay on as a member of the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission, in spite of past concerns about his inability to attend most or all of the commission meetings. Huntington addressed Salter and the City Council Thursday evening, saying that his job circumstances have changed, affording him the ability to attend meetings more consistently.

Council members agreed that Huntington should stay on board and complete his term, which is over at the end of this year.
