HOSCHTON — Second-seeded Norcross received offensive contributions from 11 different players as the Blue Devils opened its Region 7-AAAAA tournament with a solid 65-24 win over Mountain View on Tuesday at Mill Creek.
The win qualifies the Blue Devils for the Class AAAAA state tournament and sends Norcross to the region semifinals against the Duluth.
Diamond Deshields, who led Norcross with 15 points, scored 10 of those in the first period as the Blue Devils opened up a 24-10 lead by quarter’s end.
While Deshields was the only Blue Devil to reach double digits in points, the team received contributions from Alex DeMercy with eight points, Patrice Butler with eight points, Tori Carter with seven points and Shayla Cooper with seven points.
Butler also led her team in rebounds with five, while DeMercy and Bre Williams had three assists each.
Mill Creek was led by 10 points from Bria Virgil and eight points from Jade Manning. Ivey Franklin finished with a game high in rebounds with six.
