Louis C. Ingram, Jr.

LOUIS Louis C. Ingram, Jr. (Lt. Col. USAF Retired), age 90, of Lilburn, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011. Military graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. Born October 25, 1920 in Atlanta, Mr. Ingram attended Decatur Boys High and Georgia Tech (Class of 1941) where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. During WWII, he served in combat in B-29's in the western Pacific against Japan. After retirement from the Air Force, he was employed with Twentieth Century Fox for 9 years before moving into television. He worked for several television stations in Atlanta for 32 years before retiring from WSB-TV and Cox Enterprises in 1988. He was active in children's charities for 30 years and was a member of the Variety Club of Atlanta for 31 years. He was a member of the Georgia Masonic Lodge, #96 F&AM in Atlanta and the Scottish Rite and Yaarab Shrine. He was also a member of Harmony Grove United Methodist Church in Lilburn. Preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Burkett Ingram, he is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Susan Ingram of Lilburn and Kevin and Helen Ingram of Greenville, SC; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Charles Wesson of Roanoke, AL, Ansley and Scott Kay of Lilburn, and Taylor and Scott Jensen of Lilburn; cousin, Rutledge Ingram Gross of Avondale Estates; 9 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Attn: Gift Processing, 1687 Tullie Circle, Atlanta, GA 30329 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
