NORCROSS -- Authorities have arrested a local man on charges of consensual statutory rape after police say he drove to Arkansas to pick up a 14-year-old girl he met online and brought her back to Norcross.
Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Jake Smith said 23-year-old Felipe Nunez-Martinez remains in the local jail on two counts of statutory rape, interference with custody and an immigration violation. Smith said the man allegedly drove from Norcross to Hope, Ark., the girl's home, and picked her up on Dec. 22. The girl called her mother on Christmas Eve from Norcross and "said she was scared and wanted to come home." Nunez-Martinez allegedly had sex with the teen, police said. Police added that the teen told Nunez-Martinez she was 17. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney. --The Associated Press contributed to this report.More like this story
