GOODNEWS: Woman honored at math conference

NORCROSS -- Kathy Spruiell was honored recently at the Georgia Math Conference as the Elementary Teacher of Excellence Award Winner.

Every year, the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics recognizes mathematics educators in Georgia who demonstrate excellence as teachers.

A teacher at Stripling Elementary School in Norcross, Spruiell is active locally and in the state as a mentor and advocate of mathematics and math education.

She is currently a math instructional coach at the school.

According to its website, the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics aims to "promote a high quality education for all students, encourage an active interest in math and math education, promote ongoing professional development for math education and promote and reward excellence in the teaching of mathematics in the state of Georgia."
