Mrs. Dorothy Mae (Dot) Alexis Hanson, age 84, of Dunwoody/Lawrenceville, GA, passed away on December 27. She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Hanson, her parents, Carl and Grace Bush Alexis, brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Gert Alexis, sister and brother-in-law, George and June Andrews and sister, Margaret. She is survived by sons, Bradford Hanson of Falls Church, VA, Craig and Rena Hanson of Lawrenceville, GA, Terry and Diane Hanson of Auburn, AL, and Marty and Cristal Hanson of Hollywood, Florida. She is also survived by grandchildren Alyson Clifford, Katie Dornan, and Brock Hanson; and great-grandsons, Logan and Nathan Clifford. Ms. Hanson was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania on May 13, 1927. She attended Allegany College where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She later earned a Master’s degree from Emory University and a Specialist’s Degree from the University of Georgia. She spent most of her life as a teacher and librarian. She retired in 1991 from the Dekalb County School System where she worked in Media Processing. The memorial service will be held in the chapel at Wages & Sons Funeral Home, Lawrenceville on Monday, January 2 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lamar Holly officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. Dot loved books and loved to read.
