PREP ROUNDUP: Parkview girls top fellow unbeaten Mauldin

ROEBUCK, S.C. -- Parkview put four players in double-figures to remain undefeated with a 57-45 win over Mauldin (S.C.) in the girls basketball semifinals of the Upward Classic on Thursday.

Genesis Perrymond led the way with 16 points while Erika Joseph, Marissa Mandeldove and Tatiana Wayne had 10 points each. The 12-point win over Mauldin, which is ranked No. 5 in South Carolina, put Parkview (12-0) into today's championship game at 3:30 against tournament host Dorman (10-0 and ranked No. 3 in South Carolina).


Archer 65, Drew Charter 51

ACWORTH -- Alesha Mann continued to play inspired basketball just two days after her mother passed away as the sophomore led the Tigers to a 65-51 triumph over Drew Charter in the semifinals of the Lake City Classic on Thursday.

Mann had a team-best 17 points to lead Archer into today's championship game at 7 p.m. Madison Newby added 14 points, four rebounds and three steals for Archer (8-3). Kayla Rogers also had 14 points and Morgan Jackson added nine points and nine rebounds for Archer, which matched last year's win total with the victory over Drew Charter.

Mill Creek 54, Tift County 42

TIFTON -- Tamarr Williams and Jasmine Carter led Mill Creek with 14 points each as the Hawks defeated Tift County 54-42 in the McDonald's Invitational on Thursday. Nadiya Miller added 13 points and India Dillard had 10 rebounds for Mill Creek (9-3).

Hebron 30, Richland Northeast (S.C.) 28

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Amber Skidgel had a team-high 10 points, but Hebron Christian fell short as the Lions dropped a 30-28 decision to Richland Northeast (S.C.) in the fifth-place game of the Bojangles Carolina Invitational on Thursday. Taryn Higgins added six points for Hebron (9-6).


Archer 56, Johnson-Savannah 49

COMMERCE -- Bryan Hamlet went for 24 points as the Archer boys pulled out a 56-49 win Thursday over Johnson of Savannah, ranked No. 9 in Class AAAAA, in the WJJC Commerce Holiday Tournament. Aubry Overby added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Randall Smith had eight points and seven assists for Archer (7-4). Archer will play today at 5:30.

Duluth 60, Creekview 52

JASPER -- Ify Imachukwu poured in 18 points and Zack Erwin had 16 to lead Duluth to a 60-52 win over Creekview in the Pickens County Classic on Thursday. Michael Randle added 11 points for the Wildcats (4-9), who have put together a three-game winning streak for the first time in five years.

Norcross 68, Hillcrest 59

ROEBUCK, S.C. -- Harold Givens and Brandon Goodwin had 19 points each as Norcross got past Hillcrest (S.C.) 68-59 on Day 2 of the Upward Classic on Thursday.

Norcross had dropped 67-63 decision to Bishop O'Connell (Va.) on Wednesday depsite 34 points from Goodwin. Norcross will play today at 1 p.m. in the fifth-place game against Dorman (S.C.).

Buford 73, Harrison 46

DECATUR -- Isaiah Williams scored 17 points Thursday as Buford put four players in double-figures en route to a 73-46 victory over Harrison in the Converse Holiday Invitational at Columbia High School. Kyle Kellam had 14 points for the Wolves (9-2) while Brad Mapes added 12 and T.J. Shipes had 10. Buford led by 32 at 63-31 heading into the fourth quarter and coasted home to the big win. Buford plays today at 5:30 against Norland (Fla.) in the fifth-place game.

Wesleyan 61, Jefferson 34

ATLANTA -- Shane Smith led Wesleyan with 13 points and Charles Mack had 12 as the Wolves rolled over Jefferson 61-34 in the third-place game of the Westminster Holiday Classic on Thursday. Will Clifton added 11 points for Wesleyan (6-5).

Stephens County 46, Hebron 40

COMMERCE -- Griffin Gambill had 13 points and Dylan Schulte added 12, but it wasn't enough as Hebron Christian (3-9) fell to Stephens County 46-40 in the Wingslinger Holiday Bash at Each Jackson on Thursday.
