Mrs. Maxine S. Gilbertson, age 87, of Buford, GA passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Gordon A. “Gil” Gilbertson. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Leeth, Atlanta, GA; son, Gary Gilbertson, Duluth, GA; grandchildren, Dustin Gilbertson, Lancaster, OH and Alex Gilbertson, Canal Winchester, OH; great-grandchildren Gage Gilbertson and Lanee Gilbertson; sister, Georgette Gohl, Palm Desert, CA, sister-in-law Marty Strehle, St. Louis, MO; niece Barbara Wasserkrug, Palm Desert, CA. Mrs. Gilbertson was born July 30, 1924 in St. Louis, MO. She was a graduate of Webster Groves High School in Webster Groves, MO. She retired from Woolen Square in Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of Jobs Daughter, Eastern Star, New Neighbors, Bag Ladies Quilt Group, North American Aviation Aeroettes and Rockwell-Boeing Retirees Group. To be with Maxine was festivity and fun. Stranger or not, she made everyone feel at home. She was an active resident of Lake Springs in Buford, GA and was of the Christian Faith. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Reverend Kennedy Smart officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096 or the American Heart Association in memory of Maxine Gilbertson.
