PREP ROUNDUP: Wesleyan wins final game at Nike TOC

PHOENIX -- Wesleyan's defense held Purdue signee Taylor Manuel to seven points as the Wolves defeated the Incarnate Word (Mo.) girls 61-48 on Thursday in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

The Wolves (9-2) used a third-quarter surge to secure the win and finished 2-2 for 11th place in the prestigious tournament. Wesleyan trailed 24-23 at the half and had a seven-point lead going into the fourth quarter. Wesleyan shot 90 percent from the free throw line, inlcuding 6 of 6 in the fourth quarter.

Holli Wilkins led the Wolves with 16 points, while Joshlyn Belcher and Kaelyn Causwell each scored nine. Missy Byrd scored seven points and kept Manuel in check most of the game on defense.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

St. Mary's (Calif.) 65, Buford 43

PHOENIX -- Kaela Davis scored 23 points in Buford's 65-43 loss to nationally ranked St. Mary's (Calif.) on Thursday in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

The Wolves (6-3) went 1-3 in the prestigious tournament, finishing in 14th place. St. Mary's outscored Buford 26-8 in the second quarter to pull away with the win. McKenzie Darrah added eight points for the Wolves.

Parkview fifth at Seahawk Slam

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Parkview had eight placers to finish fifth out of 24 teams at the Seahawk Slam on Thursday.

Kamaal Fhakur won the 132-pound weight class and Khalil Fhakur (160) was second. An Vu (113) and Harrison Schmid (195) were fourth, Jordan Matlack (138) was fifth, WIll Anderson (120) was sixth, Andrew Webb (126) was seventh and Edwin Lindsey (145) was eighth.

Meadowcreek sweeps quad meet

DOUGLASVILLE -- Meadowcreek easily won its quad meet on Thursday, beating Villa Rica 63-15, host Douglas County 57-20 and Lithia Springs 78-6.

Rene Deluna (126 pounds), Angelo Pineda (132), Alex Steele (160), O.G. Harden (170), Ryan Moore (182) and Alex Lucio (285) were 3-0 for the Mustangs (14-7). Dante Bennett (120) was 2-0.
