DULUTH -- Families can celebrate New Year's Eve in Duluth with a winter carnival.
Officials have planned the city's third end of the year celebration to include music, football and a giant snow slide in the Duluth Town Green.
The festivities begin at 6 p.m., beginning a musical line-up that includes Allatoona, the Georgia-Country.com Band of the Year, as well as crowd favorite Banks and Shane.
Officials will also have a big screen to watch the Chick-fil-A bowl game, and the green will be filled with a winter carnival with inflatables and games.
Shop owners invite people to "crawl" through the local restaurants and shops, and tickets are on sale for "The Mosier Brothers and Friends," in concert at the Red Clay Theatre as part of Eddie Owen Presents.
For the third year, officials are promising a unique icon to drop at midnight, accompanied by fireworks. The annual surprise was created by the city in partnership with Entertainment Design Group, who is the creator of the Peach Drop.
