Mr. Dan Pirkle, age 76, of Buford, GA passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Pirkle, Jr. and Jewell Brogdon Pirkle; daughter Ginger Pirkle; and brother Donald Pirkle. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat Taylor Pirkle, Buford, GA; daughters and sons-in-law Deborah Pirkle and husband Robert Clark, Duluth, GA, Beth and Wayne Samples, Cumming, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Toni Pirkle, Winder, GA; grandchildren, Hollie Bryson and Ryan Handschub, Juli and Patrick Adamson, Heather Landers and Shane Winters, Torrie and Dan Souther, Barbara and Kurt Osgood; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Varnell Rucker, Crabapple, GA, Virginia and Martin Keller, Jasper, GA; aunts, Montie Brogdon Thompson, Buford, GA, Lula Mae Pirkle, Buford, GA, and Judy Pirkle, Buford, GA; many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Pirkle was born June 6, 1935 in Buford, GA. He was a lifetime resident of Buford, GA, “the town he loved.” He was a 1953 graduate of Buford High School and was a U.S. Naval Reserve veteran with honorable discharge. He was a member of the Buford Housing Authority for nineteen years and was retired from Gwinnett County Water System. He was a member of Buford First United Methodist Church since 1947. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Johnson and Reverend Sondra Jones officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Buford, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Buford First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 329, Buford, GA 30518 or Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096 in memory of Dan Pirkle.
