PREP ROUNDUP: Collins Hill head coach scores first win

SUWANEE -- It took longer than they'd like, but Collins Hill's boys basketball players got head coach Eric Nathan his first career win Tuesday.

Connor Iverson scored 18 points and the Eagles (1-8) defeated Hart County 57-47.

Collins Hill had 11 players score, including Devin Mitchell, who had 11 points and five assists in the victory.

BOYS BASKETBALL

East Jackson 64, Hebron 62

COMMERCE -- Hebron led for the better part of four quarters but saw it slip away in the final minutes as East Jackson clipped the Lions 64-62 Tuesday night in a non-region battle.

Tyler Matthews led Hebron (3-7) in scoring with 18 points, while Dylan Schulte added 15 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Norcross 60, Dutch Fork (S.C.) 41

MYRTLE BEACH -- Norcross advanced to the semifinal round of the Crescent Bank Holiday Invitational for the second straight season with a 60-41 win over previously undefeated Dutch Fork of Irmo, S.C.

Diamond DeShields led Norcross (6-2) with 20 points, while Shayla Cooper added 10 points and six rebounds. DeShields, Cooper and Bri Williams each contributed on defense with four steals.

Norcross closed out the first half with a 6-0 run to take a 32-21 lead at the break. That momentum carried over into the second half as Norcross opened the third quarter with an 11-3 run, building its lead to as many as 23 points.

Hebron 43, East Jackson 39

COMMERCE -- Amber Skidgel of Hebron scored 15 points and pulled down five rebounds Tuesday night in guiding the Lions 43-39 over East Jackson in a non-region game.

Hannah Lentz helped in the win with 12 points and six assists, while Taryn Higgins chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds. The win boosted Hebron's overall record to 8-4 while remaining 2-1 in Region 8-A.
