PREP ROUNDUP: DeShields shines as Norcross rolls

MYRTLE BEACH -- With Connecticut coach Geno Auriemma watching, Diamond DeShields had 24 points, six steals and three assists in only 13 minutes of action as Norcross routed St. James 95-22 in the Crescent Bank Invitational.

Shayla Cooper added 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Norcross (5-2). The 95 points scored by the Blue Devils is the second-best in the 13-year history of the tournament.

Sierra Buter had 11 points and Tori Carter scored 10 for Norcross.

St. James of Murrells Inlet, S.C. came into the game with a 6-0 record.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Parkview 44, Milton 39

MILTON -- Erika Joseph kept Parkview unbeaten with a team-high 16 points in the Panthers' 44-39 win over Milton on Monday.

Makenna Pouengue added 11 for Parkview (10-0).

Lanier 39, Oglethorpe Co. 24

SUGAR HILL -- Shelby Threlkeld scored 14 points at Lanier beat Oglethorpe 39-24 to win its fourth in a row and improve to 5-6 on the season.

GAC 71, Myrtle Beach 60

MYRTLE BEACH -- Greater Atlanta Christian (6-3) shot 56.8 percent from the floor and 85.7 percent from the foul line in beating Myrtle Beach 71-60 to even its record at 1-1 in the Crescent Bank Invitational.

Sierra Lawrence, who made 7 of 9 shots, scored 16 points and Brianna Cummings had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sydni Means and CiCi Buford added 12 points each for the Spartans and Cosette Mahre scored 10.

Myrtle Beach's Khadijah Sessions, who has signed with South Carolina, led all scorers with 26 points.

The win was GAC's first in the tournament after the Spartans lost to Spring Valley (S.C.), a team ranked No. 4 nationally by ESPN, 77-42 to open the event Saturday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lanier 58, Oglethorpe Co. 23

SUGAR HILL -- Jordan Davis scored 13 points and added three assists as Lanier cruised past Oglethorpe Co. 58-23.

The Longhorns (5-6) led the whole way and Simon Shafack and Paul Webb each scored 12 points in the win.
