GRAYSON -- Several changes were made Monday night to Grayson's Alcohol Ordinance Code, including setting the date for stores to apply to sell packaged beer, wine and distilled spirits, along with the accompanying fee schedule.
Package stores will be allowed to apply for licenses from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 3-6, 2012, and these applications will be considered at the council meeting Jan. 17. Also, modification of the city's unified fee schedule was approved. To sell retail packaged beer and wine, to be consumed off premises, it will cost $6,000, and $5,000 for distilled spirits. The Council formally OK'd the application for a license permitting the packaged sale of distilled spirits, which was approved by voters in the November election. Sales will be permitted in the Grayson Highway Overlay District, which has been rezoned to M-1. The board also changed its alcohol ordinance to state that the applicant doesn't have to present a full set of plans for building at the time of the application. Also, the part of the ordinance requiring adequate sanitary toilet facilities was deleted, while concurring that state and county law must be followed instead. In other business, the Council: -- Approved the extension of the Plaza Security contract for city law enforcement through Dec. 31, 2012, at the same rate as the current year. -- Approved funds for plumbing, demolition, framing, materials, windows and doors for the 438 Grayson Parkway building.More like this story
