SUWANEE -- The executive officer at Georgia Campus--Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine has announced his plans to step down effective Jan. 27.
In a letter to coworkers, Dr. John Fleischmann thanked faculty and staff for "supporting the focus of Georgia Campus as it plays a key role in changing the face of primary care in the state of Georgia."
Fleischmann, who had led the development of Georgia Campus—PCOM for about eight years, said that he planned to "pursue a new venture."
Stated Fleischmann: "Eight years ago we started with a vision that gave impetus to founding a state-of-the-art health sciences campus in Gwinnett County. As Georgia Campus evolved we are proud of the fact that both local and statewide communities have embraced and joined our efforts to develop superior professional and graduate studies programs in medicine, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, biomedical sciences and organizational development and leadership."
A successor for Fleischmann has not yet been announced.
Georgia Campus—PCOM opened in 2005 as a branch campus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, a medical school chartered in 1899 in Philadelphia. The campus is located at 625 Old Peachtree Road NW in Suwanee.
