PREP ROUNDUP: Hawks still unbeaten

DACULA -- Jalen Bracey had 16 points and five assists to lead No. 4 Mill Creek to a 55-40 comeback win over Dacula on Saturday.

Paul Evans added 10 points and five assists as Mill Creek improved to 8-0. Kunle Akinmola had 10 points off the bench in the second half to spark the Hawks' rally. Trevon Shaw chipped in 10 points and six rebounds while Daniel Loudermilk had seven fourth-quarter points and 10 rebounds in the game.

Xavier Okoro led Dacula (5-4) with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Archer 63, Apalachee 39

WINDER -- Randall Smith had 20 points to lead Archer to a 63-39 win over Apalachee on Saturday. Aubrey Overby added 10 points as the Tigers improved to 6-3 overall.

Cameron Blakley led Apalachee (2-6) with 12 points.

Wesleyan 62, Fellowship 42

NORCROSS -- Shane Smith had 14 points and Charles Mack added 10 as Wesleyan (4-4) knocked off Fellowship Christian 62-42 on Saturday.

Athens Christian 73, Hebron 41

DACULA -- Hebron Christian Academy fell to Athens Christian School 73-41 in Region 8-A action Saturday. Dylan Schulte led the Hebron attack with 11 points as the Lions fell to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in the region.

Lanier 52, Lumpkin Co. 42

SUGAR HILL -- Jordan Davis scored a game-high 18 points and Austin Wood pulled down 10 rebounds as the Longhorns (4-6) picked up a non-region win over Lumpkin County on Saturday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mill Creek 56, Dacula 22

DACULA -- Jasmine Carter poured in a game-high 23 points and grabbed six rebounds as Mill Creek rolled past Dacula 56-22 on Saturday. Meredith Schulte added 11 points for Mill Creek (5-3).

Briana Daniels led Dacula (3-6) with seven points and Anna Machovec had six.

Archer 69, Apalachee 51

WINDER -- Madison Newby had 16 points, a school-record nine assists and four steals as Archer defeated Apalachee 69-51 on Saturday.

Archer set a team-record with its 69 total points and improved to 6-3 overall for the season.

Kayla Rogers also had 16 points, while Marissa Jordan added 10 points and six rebounds for the Tigers. Alesha Mann chipped in nine points and three steals and Danicka Brown had eight points and four steals for Archer.

Saboyce Shelton paced the Apalachee attack with a game-high 22 points as the Wildcats lost for just the second time this season.

Duluth 60, Northview 40

JOHNS CREEK -- Duluth put three players in double-figures as the Wildcats cruised to a 60-40 win over Northview on Saturday. Katie Powell led Duluth (8-2) with 13 points while Joi Jones had 12 and Tajai Pearson added 11.

Meadowcreek 67, Clarkston 33

CLARKSTON -- Freddie Banks scored a game-high 25 points and also grabbed nine rebounds as Meadowcreek routed Clarkston 67-33 in the DeKalb County School System Holiday Tournament on Saturday. Aysha Martin added 11 points and six rebounds and Angel Alexander had 10 points and three rebounds for the Mustangs (3-5). Sternavia Brown led Clarkston with 17 points.

Lanier 48, Lumpkin Co. 38

SUGAR HILL -- Shelby Threlkeld led Lanier with 16 points as the Longhorns (4-6) got past Lumpkin County 48-38 for their third straight win Saturday. Morgan Wood led Lumpkin County with 18 points.

Hebron 27, Athens Christian 25

DACULA -- Brooke Davis had nine points and 12 rebounds to lead Hebron Christian Academy to a 27-25 win over Athens Christian School in Region 8-A on Saturday. Amber Skidgel added six points and nine rebounds as the Lions improved to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the region.
